Brush Up on a Little Modern Theatre with This Performance of Violet
Olathe Civic Theatre Association is an all-volunteer 501c3 organization producing theatre in Olathe since 1974. Performing in the Buddy Rogers Family Playhouse, OCTA produces five high-quality, engaging, and thought-provoking theatre productions a year.
Through the generosity of volunteers, season ticket holders, donors, city, and community, in addition to a dedicated Board of Directors, OCTA has grown into one of the most progressive community theaters in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
“OCTA is thrilled to offer a dynamic combination of plays and musicals helmed by talented local directors. It’s a mix of shows guaranteed to provide a boundless variety of entertainment,” Ted Collins, OCTA Board President explains. “We are grateful to our patrons and season ticket holders for taking this ride with us. It continues to be an exciting time for our theatre!”
Join the theatre for their latest production of Violet. A girl with a disfiguring scar sets out from her home in Spruce Pine, NC to seek healing and finds her true beauty along the way. Set in 1964, this stunning show won both the Drama Critics’ Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award as Best Musical for its touching script and show-stopping anthems ranging from American-roots to folk to gospel. Violet is the moving story of a courageous heroine you’ll never forget.
This inspiring contemporary musical is touching, funny and sometimes frank with moments including adult language and subject matter that might be inappropriate for younger audience members. We recommend Violet for patrons ages 14 and older.
The Royale at City Place, an extraordinary blend of comfortable and convenient apartments in Overland Park, Kansas, would like to remind our friends and neighbors of this event!
